BUG FIXES

Additional Attributes on Equipment: Fixed an issue where the name of the Additional Attribute (ADD ATTRIB) was not saved correctly when creating a new equipment item that used this option.

Particle Consistency: Solved an issue where particles flickered when kept on screen during page transitions with the "directions" interface. The system now redraws them correctly, ensuring visual consistency. To create a constant effect in an area (like rain), just define a particle preset with the same position on all pages within that area. This way, the effect is maintained as the player moves, without flickering or reloading. Just a reminder, this works the same way for sprites.

IMPROVEMENTS

Interface Interaction Improvements: Improved interface locking to ensure consistency in all situations. Previously, system alerts already partially blocked the interface, but now, when an alert message or the evolution screen is displayed, the interface is completely disabled (including combat buttons). Only the game menu remains accessible, preventing the player from getting stuck and standardizing the interaction flow.

Key Item Editing Improvements: Key item editing has been enhanced with greater robustness and clarity. The system now automatically fills in essential default values to prevent input errors. I also implemented a check to prevent "start screen" and "game over" pages from being set as the origin or destination for doors, ensuring the integrity of the game's logic.

NEW FEATURES

Shortcut Buttons: 

Added shortcut buttons to the ACSG main screen for quick access to essential content. You can now easily access news and updates on the Itchio page, the official ACSG page, and the YouTube channel. Additionally, the free version now includes a button to get the Premium version. All links open in your default browser.

New Gold Variation System: 

From now on, you can add more dynamism to the gold gain in your game! Although gold already had a random variation, that variation was fixed in the code. With this improvement, you gain total control.

  • Greater Freedom: You can adjust the variation according to your game vision.
  • No Negative Values: The system ensures that the amount of gold received will never be less than zero, even if the variation is very large.
  • Balance: Remember that this variation range is automatically adjusted with the enemy's level. Therefore, it's wise not to overdo it to avoid discrepancies. I always recommend using the level 1 gold value that enemies grant as a base.

To give a clearer example, imagine that a level 1 Slime enemy offers 50 gold. If you set the variation to 10, the Slime can drop between 40 and 60 gold. Now, if this same Slime is found at level 2, the system will automatically adjust the gold base and the variation. The Slime can, for example, offer between 80 and 120 gold.

New Item Types: 

Added new item types that allow for the creation of permanent bonuses and special functionalities.

  • STRENGTH,  DEXTERITY, RESISTANCE (Permanent):
    Items that grant permanent increases to the character's attributes.

  • ADD ATTRIB (Permanent):
    Allows you to select one of the project's Additional Attributes to be the target of a permanent bonus, incrementing it definitively.

  • HP MAX , MP MAX (Permanent):
    Permanently increases max HP and MP.

  • XP BONUS:
    An item that grants a certain amount of experience when used.

  • TELEPORTATION:
    An item that allows for instant teleportation to specific locations.

XP Gain by Location: 

Now you can control the gain and loss of Experience Points (XP) when arriving at a specific page. With this new feature and the introduction of the new XP BONUS item, experience gain is no longer limited to defeating enemies. And the SOCIAL -> XP BONUS Additional Attribute becomes even more useful, as its bonus percentage is applied to all new XP sources.

IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS

These new features open up a range of possibilities for content creation.

Now you can, for example, simulate a training process with an NPC who teaches a technique, or create a scroll that, when read, permanently increases the character's Eloquence. Since items can be left on any page, you can create training areas where the character collects these items to evolve within a lore. Essentially, the "item" logic can be used to represent any action that results in a permanent increase, offering more flexibility and depth to your stories.
The new XP BONUS item can be used to create rewards for "quests" or represent a "scroll of wisdom" found in a library. Combine it with XP Gain by Location to reward players who explore a new area, find a secret, or reach the top of a mountain, turning the journey itself into a rewarding experience.
Here are some ideas for using the TELEPORTATION feature:

Return to the "Nexus": Create an item that allows the player to instantly return to a central city, a hub, or the starting point.

Travel to Important Points: Use the functionality to create shortcuts between cities, ports, or hard-to-reach mission areas. This new feature gives you more control over the exploration experience, making the player's journey more strategic and less tedious.

NOTES: 

  • To update a project, simply open it with the latest version of ACSG.(1.0.6) 
  • It's always good to remember that any project created from version 1.0.2 or higher will probably be converted without issues to 1.0.6. However, we always guarantee compatibility with the version immediately preceding the one we are releasing (in this case, 1.0.5). Therefore, I recommend keeping your ACSG always updated for the best experience. 
  • PS: When updating the project, I recommend accepting the option to update the Manual.
